Mom's Birthday Extravaganza!

Not really an extravaganza. More of a to-do. All I hope is that she enjoyed herself.

Mom turned 82 yesterday. Yay for aging! Sort of. Why do we celebrate birthdays? I guess one reason is to congratulate ourselves and others on not succumbing to entropy for another year. And mom continues to maintain a modicum of togetherness. Which is great!

Many people thought of mom on her birthday. Juliet called. Betty and Ernst called. One of mom's Chinese students called. Mary G. called. Lots of calls! She got a birthday card from Mary F. Karl sent her two containers of marzipan - one for her birthday and one for Mother's day. And a dozen gorgeous roses. E&B sent her chocolates. Juliet is gifting her with more spa treatments. I got her a couple of things. She opened presents all day (sort of). We went shopping and got her a couple of more pairs of stretchy pants. Then dinner was at Leaf Kitchen. Mom had the chicken special after we shared two crab cake/croquets. The Leaf has a new server, Cassie, who is an HWS student. Dessert we ate at home - fresh made brownies, ice cream and whipped cream! Yay!

And that was the day. Oh, Ginger came and helped mom start to get organized for her reunion later this month. That was very helpful. I hope she will do more of that next week as well.

Feels like Saturday today for some reason. Mom and I plan to head to the Lilac Festival in Rochester whenever we get around to it. Joy.

Sorry for the random order of pictures. Life is that way sometimes.

A copy of Bar Dreams sold! Yay!
