New Obsession

Who hasn't had at least one or two obsessions in their lives? Not addictions, at least, not in my case. I don't think I have ever been addicted to anything. Obsessed? Sure. Lots of times. The good thing about obsessions in my life thus far, is that they often end and that they haven't been particularly life threatening. My new current obsession is a teeny game on my iPhone called Word Jigsaw. I may even splurge on it and buy the pro package. We shall see. Right now, I am thoroughly enjoying playing the medium size - over and over and over again. Each game seems a little different and they last between 25 seconds or so to 5 minutes or so depending on how difficult I find them.

Nice day yesterday, besides a Smith SNAFU. The sound system didn't want to work, though it eventually did. After I had to let everyone go home. Sigh. Other than that, though, I had a pleasant day.

It started off with hot chocolate with a friend. Yes, an actual hot beverage. One of the few that I will occasionally enjoy. At Opus. I don't go there a lot, but have never had a bad experience there. I do sometimes still miss the Asian restaurant that was there, though...

I did a little grocery shopping (actually asked the scarf receiver to send me a selfie of her wearing the thing - though I doubt that will ever happen), bought a new pair of kitchen scissors (though these too have plastic handles - sigh) and partook of all sorts of free samples of food stuffs at Wegman's.

The time at home was pretty pleasant, too. Mom ate her lunch easily. I played her music on a CD player - our new thing. Napped a little (didn't sleep particularly well for whatever reasons). I did some work on the puzzle (no picture today), cleaned the kitchen, later heated up leftovers - I really need to pull the trigger and get a new to the house stove. I can't decide whether to go for Lowes and a new, new one - or go to Universal Appliance and get a refurbished one. I am leaning towards UA because they are local and weird. We shall see on Monday or Tuesday. Later, I let mom watch Doc Martin while I went to my room and watched the second Percy Jackson movie. I tried to find out if the third was scheduled, but apparently it was canned. Oh well. The PJ movie was decent - as long as one had no expectations of great art.

I keep forgetting that tomorrow (Monday) is a holiday. I hope an aide comes, since we didn't have one on Friday...

Lazyish Day

Gotta love 'em! Did not do a whole lot in some respects - though I actually, in retrospect, accomplished a good bit. Sadly, though, a lot of my accomplishments were in Gardens of Time! Currently, I have a mild obsession with a facebook hidden objects game. I play it way too much. Sigh. This too shall pass, though.

Yesterday also saw two new photo albums go up on Facebook - one was from the Ren Faire in Sterling, NY - a lot of not so great pictures - and one from the Connecticut jaunt last weekend. I was surprised at the dearth of people in the pictures. I ought to have had at least one of Karl and one of Candace. Oh well. Maybe next year. :(

And it was quiche day! I went to Wegman's (Yay Wegman's) and picked up exactly $30 worth of groceries. I wonder that there isn't a prize for getting a round dollar amount like that. There ought to be. Hmm. I was trying to think of stuff that I purchased that will last past the quiche and there isn't much. Some soda water. And some Nesquik. Milk, sadly, is in a few of the recipes that I make. And I can't buy as little as I often need, so I end up with milk - which I don't really like to drink. But I hate to see it go to waste - so I bought some Nesquik to make it more palatable when I do have to drink it. Yippee?

I got comments back from one of my proofreaders of Diary of a Plate Addict - one of the pictures that I thought had been taken with my camera, was, sadly, not. So out it goes from the book. And I haven't heard back from Keith yet about permission for using the calendar shoot pictures. Haven't heard back from the other proofreaders, yet. Hopefully soon.

Not a lot planned for today - mom gets to go see the Brain Doctor. We might go see the last Harry Potter. And we have a lot of quiche to eat! :)

Cleaner, happier trunk. It does need a vacuuming though...

Before cooking...

All done - yum!

Fireworks

I can be a little obsessive. For instance, I did a search for fireworks in the area and found that there were some last night, tonight, Sunday and Monday! And I decided I wanted to go to them all. Well, I didn't end up going last night. The fireworks were at a Speedway - which to me seems to be a misnomer, since the track is dirt and short and well, I can't imagine that the vehicles are really going all that quickly. Then again, I haven't gone to a Speedway - though I would like to go. One day. Really! But it wasn't last night. Mom and I are planning on going to the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra's Red, White and Boom tonight. That ought to be fun! We bought her the most awesome-est of folding chairs for the eventuality of sitting outdoors. Yippee! Then we are going to the American Legion on Sunday night. And I am planning on going to some fireworks in a park on the 4th even if I have to go alone! Yippee for fireworks and obsession! :)

What else happened yesterday? I got up at a decent time and made lots of phone calls and got a few things checked off of my to do list. Always a happy-making thing. It was also coin rolling day! Every six months or so, I like to wrap coins that I have collected. I love coin rolling. Weird, but true. I don't like the machines that take the coins so easily. Sorting through the coins, counting them, wrapping them. I like it all. I ended up with $56 dollars!

Oh, I went to the movies with the women from Turkey. It was their first movie in America! And sadly it was a piece of dreck called Bad Teacher. I like Cameron Diaz. I really do. But this was a terrible, in my opinion, movie. Bad acting, silly predictable plot, bad dialogue. Just ick. I hope that they liked it more than I did!

Mom and I have decided to go help my brother Karl change houses. Every extra pair of hands is helpful, I guess. It is in a couple of weekends and will be a quick trip. I am planning on going to a couple of beer things - one brewery and one brewpub. Maybe I will write a book about brewpubs. That would be fun to research!

By the way - I just published a post from last year - it was a summary post about a road trip I made. Not scintillating, but it is more words... :)

The socks contain change that didn't get rolled last time - pink for quarters, white for pennies and the blue sock contains nickels and dimes.

Ta da! Some change was left for the next time. Yippee!

Not a great representation of the view from the park at the foot of Washington Street in Geneva...
